Podere Sperpetua
About Our Wines
Podere Sperpetua

Our vineyard is on clay land at the top of a hill, some 560 metres from sea level and surrounded by an oak wood. The high exposure to the sun from early in the morning up to the sunset combined with evening breeze make sure that the grapes will grow with a very unique characteristic.

We do have three hectares where we plant the Merlot and Sangiovese grapevines.

The vineyard is under periodic checks from an agrarian to make sure that the grapes grow at their best.

All year round the vineyard jobs are done by hand to make sure that we achieve the best quality that we can come the harvest.

The harvest is one of the most important steps of our wine process and is done when we have the right amount of sugar in our grapes and this can happen any day in September.

On the same day of the harvest we take the grapes to the cellars where they are crushed before fermentation.

The fermentation process is a reaction involving yeast or bacteria that transform the sugars into alcohol and can last around 15 days.

Finally we leave the wine to rest for 12 months in a french oak barrel before filtering and bottling.
